هذا ما قاله سقراط أمام المحكمة بعد صدور الحكم:

"لربما هناك صواب ان تكون كل هذه الأمور كهذا و إني لأراها كذلك..لو كان الموت رحلة إلى مكان أخر-و هذا إعتقاد شائع نراه حقا-فأي فوز أعظم من هذا يا حضرات القضاة..

لو إنسان مضى لمثواه تاركاً كل هذه العدالة المزيفة ليجد عدالة حقة فهل سيكون ذلك بغيضا؟

أنا على الأقل راغب في أن أموت مئة موتة لو كان هذا حقا وسيكون الأمر مشوقاً لي بالذات لو قارنت درايتي بالمسنين الذين قضوا بقرار ظالم فهُم أسعد منا في هذه الدنيا لأنهم خالدون..

إنّ الشر لا يطال الصالحين في الحياة و لا بعد الممات..

أنزلوا العقاب بابنائي عندما يبلغون سن الرشد يا أصدقائي ..

ضيّقوا عليهم كما ضيّقتُ عليكم إنْ رأيتم أنهم يُولون إهتماما بالمادة اكثر من الفضيلة..

و الآن حان الوقت لنا جميعا لنفترق..

سأمضي انا للموت و تمضون انتم للحياة..

و من يمضي مِنّا لحال أفضل فقد نجى(حفظه الله).
